Is it Worth It To Visit Ibiza in June?

We recently took a family trip to Ibiza, and we were so happy that we chose to go in June. I honestly don’t understand how people visit the Mediterranean in July or August. It’s JUST TOO HOT.

I’ve had friends visit southern Europe in July and August, thinking they’ll have a rejuvenating beach/pool vacation, but they come back only able to talk about how hot it was.

We always plan our trips to the Mediterranean/southern Europe in the late spring or early fall to avoid the heat, crowds, and highest prices.

This post is to give you an idea of what it looks and feels like in Ibiza in June, and to see if it’s a good time for you to visit!

Is June a Good Time to Visit Ibiza?

June is an amazing time to visit Ibiza. The weather is hot (but not as oppressively hot as July or August). Plus, the crowds aren’t quite as bad, and the prices haven’t peaked yet.

For an example of how crowded it can be in peak summer, we booked an amazing family-friendly boat tour in Ibiza that only had 3 families onboard (maybe around 15 people total).

But the captain told us that come July and August, they usually have 50 people on each boat trip (that’s a crazy difference!).

I recommend visiting Ibiza in June if you want a hot, summer getaway with fewer crowds and better prices, but not quite as oppressively hot temperatures as July or August.

If you’re looking to party, no worries, all of the parties in Ibiza are in full swing by June!

What is the Weather in Ibiza in June?

My favorite way to research the weather of a specific destination is to visit AccuWeather.com. On Accuweather, I search for my specific destination and then in the top bar select ‘monthly’.

This pulls up a calendar with the expected average high and low temperatures for each day of your selected month in the upcoming year.

However, my favorite feature is to select the month of the previous year in the dropdown menu to see the actual high and low temperatures for the previous year.

This gives a pretty good, comprehensive view of what the weather may be like during the time you are researching.

The average highs for the weather in Ibiza in June vary from 79°F to 84°F. Of course, this depends on the day and the weather that year. However, that’s a pretty great forecast for beach and pool days!

We visited Ibiza around the middle to the end of June, and most days the temps were around 88°F. It was hotter than we expected based on the yearly average temperatures, but it made it perfect for swimming.

Though let me tell you, the walk back to the car from the beach each afternoon was HOT.

I can’t imagine visiting in July or August when the daily temperatures are 90°F+. It would feel SO hot.

Santa Gertrudis

If you want to walk around Dalt Vila or Santa Gertrudis, I’d suggest going first thing in the morning or for a late dinner (a lot of places stay open quite late, even in Dalt Vila, think like midnight).

We walked around Dalt Vila one day in the mid-afternoon when it was 89°F because that was the only time that worked for us, and it was HOT, however, manageable.

Since it’s a fortified city with small pedestrian walkways and tall buildings, you do get a decent amount of shade. Plus, Ibiza often has a little breeze, which is a lifesaver.

Can you Swim in Ibiza Spain in June?

You can definitely swim in Ibiza in June! In fact, it was pretty perfect weather for swimming. As I’ve mentioned, we had temps around 88°F every day of our trip, which meant that we basically HAD to be swimming to be comfortable.

Getting to the beach early didn’t even feel like a drag because it was already plenty warm by 9:30 in the morning, so we wanted to be at the beach anyway.

Cala Comte

Water temperatures were perfect, not as warm as they get by the end of the summer, but not cold enough to deter us from swimming (70-73°F).

When we visited Ibiza’s neighbor, Mallorca, we went in May, and the water was still a bit too cold and required some getting used to. However, the outside temperatures were PERFECT for walking around villages and towns without getting too hot.

If you’re trying to decide between Ibiza and Mallorca, read this guide!

What to Wear when Visiting Ibiza in June

As previously mentioned, Ibiza is hot in June, so I recommend bringing plenty of light and airy clothing. Both my husband and I lived in linen pants and tops, plus I brought along a couple of skirts and tank tops.

The vibe of Ibiza is very casual, with some hippy/boho influence. If you like shopping for flowy skirts, dresses, and tops, there are a lot of cute boutique shops carrying mainly that.

Most of the beaches have really beautiful, soft sand that doesn’t require any beach shoes.

As for what to wear to the parties in Ibiza, I’m not the one with that information, since we visited Ibiza as a family 😝. But, I do have a great guide to visiting Ibiza with kids that you should check out if that applies to you!

What to Do in Ibiza in June

Long story short, I HIGHLY recommend booking a boat trip in Ibiza if you are visiting in June.

Getting out on the water was such a highlight for us.

The weather was perfect, hot but manageable, and the water was plenty warm, making it great conditions for getting out on the water.

Snorkeling boat trip in Ibiza Spain

There are sooo many boat trips to choose from and you can find a great fit for you, no matter what kind of traveler you are.

Since we were in Ibiza with kids, we chose this boat trip, which was created specifically for families. They have snorkel gear for both kids and adults, an onboard treasure hunt, coloring pages, SUPs, and even an authentic paella lunch.

Other Good Times to Visit Ibiza

I recommend visiting Ibiza in the shoulder seasons from mid-May to June or mid-September to mid-October.

July and August are by far the busiest, hottest, and most expensive months in Ibiza. Anyone I talk to who has visited Spain in July or August comes back saying how insanely hot and miserable it was.

It almost seems to overshadow any of their experiences, and the heat becomes all they can talk about.

Of course, if you plan to be in the water much of the time, that is better than trekking through big cities on the mainland. However, I’d just suggest not visiting during those peak summer months if at all possible.
