Your Essential Guide to Cala Llombards Beach in Mallorca

Cala Llombards beach in Mallorca is a gorgeous cove on the southeast coast with fine, beautiful sand, crystal clear amazing water, gorgeous rocks, and picturesque fishermen’s houses.

You can lounge on the beach, snorkel or explore the rocky outcroppings surrounding the cove where you can cliff jump and climb back up on some of the installed pool ladders. Or if you’re up for exploring, you can walk some of the trails lining the cove.

Snorkeling is one of the best things to do at Cala Llombards since the water is so amazingly clear and beautiful. Even without snorkels, we found little crabs in the water and saw small fish swimming around.

We visited Cala Llombards with our two young kids and they had an absolute blast. We found a spot for our towels right near the edge of the water and played & relaxed for hours.

At one point, a man with a wheelbarrow full of fresh fruit for sale even came through and I felt like I was in the Caribbean eating fresh mango on a white-sand beach.

Is Cala Llombards worth visiting?

Yes, definitely, yes! We loved our visit to Cala Llombards- it’s my favorite beach we visited in Mallorca! The sand is soft, the water crystal blue, and the colorful fishermen’s houses are *chef’s kiss*.

We were a little hesitant when we drove up because we arrived past noon and the parking area was full and the beach seemed rather crowded.

However, we found a parking spot and a great area for our towels (right along the water) where we could enjoy the beauty of the cove and play for hours with our kids. It was so great.

I much prefer Mallorca’s gorgeous coves like Cala Llombards over the over-commercialized large stretches of sand you find in some areas of Mallorca, so I definitely recommend visiting.

We had initially planned to visit either Calo Des Moro or Cala s’Almunia which are two nearby coves. These coves are super hyped on social media and although they are also beautiful they seem way too crowded now.

We changed plans when we saw what felt like miles of cars parked along the narrow one-way streets (no parking lots), cars getting ticketed, and people walking from what must have been their cars parked 30+ minutes away.

If choosing between the three beaches, I’d choose Cala Llombards unless you are arriving extremely early in the morning and don’t mind the lack of facilities at the two latter beaches.

Is Cala Llombards good for kids?

Yes! The sand is soft and the water is still and shallow making it a perfect beach to take kids to in Mallorca! And if you have older kids they would love ‘cliff’ jumping at Cala Llombards!

Our young kids loved playing at Playa Llombards and we’d go back in a heartbeat.

Where is Cala Llombards in Mallorca?

Cala Llombards is located on the southeastern coast of Mallorca just an 8-minute drive from the town of Santanyí.

If you are coming from Palma, you can reach Cala Llombards in about 50 minutes via car or 1 hour and 40 minutes via public transit.

The easiest way to visit Cala Llombards without a car is to book this full-day beach excursion from Palma that visits Cala Llombards, Calo Des Moro, and Cala s’Almunia. They even bring along SUPs and snorkel equipment you can use!

We met a tour guide from that beach tour from Palma and he was super nice and everyone with him seemed to be having a great time. He actually played catch with our daughter in the water for a long time!

Does Playa Llombards in Mallorca have a Beach Bar or Umbrellas?

Yep! You can rent tiki umbrellas and sun beds at Cala Llombards and order food, drinks, and ice cream from a little beach bar.

There are also toilets available (although they are port-a-potties and there’s no guaranteeing their cleanliness 😅).

Cala Llombards Beach Parking

One nice thing about Cala Llombards is that there is a good-sized parking lot right next to the beach. Although there are a lot of spots, you’ll still want to arrive before 11 am before it gets crowded.

We arrived around 12:30 and the parking lot was already full. However, if you continue past the parking area there is a small dirt road that leads you to a paved road and neighborhood with available street parking.

We parked in the neighborhood and walked maybe 5 minutes to the beach with no problem. If you use street parking, make sure to NOT park along yellow lines as it’s illegal and you may get a ticket or cause traffic issues (we saw this happen a lot).

Cala Llombards from Palma

You can reach Cala Llombards from Palma in about 50 minutes by car or 1 hour and 40 minutes by bus. However, the easiest way to visit is by booking this full-day beach excursion from Palma to Cala Llombards.

This day trip from Palma not only take you to Cala Llombards but also to the super-hyped beaches of Calo Des Moro, and Cala s’Almunia. AND they bring along snorkel equipment and SUPs! (If I was staying in Palma without a car I would definitely book this… you can’t beat the beauty of Mallorca’s coves.)

Things to do Near Cala Llombards in Mallorca Spain

• PORT DE CALA FIGUERA (FISHING VILLAGE): My top recommendation for a place to see near Cala Llombards! Just a 10-15 minute drive from Cala Llombards you’ll find Port de Cala Figuera which is such a picturesque, quiet fishing village. Grab ice cream with perfect views from Murmui Heladeria or snag dinner from any of the restaurants along the water for fresh seafood and amazing views. Cala Figuera is a beautiful hidden gem in Mallorca and can’t be missed if you’re in the area.

• 3-HOUR BOAT TRIP FROM PORT DE CALA FIGUERA TO BEAUTIFUL HIDDEN BEACHES AND CAVES: We were THIS close to booking this boat trip that we saw when we were visiting Cala Figuera but it just didn’t quite fit into our schedule. You can admire the rugged cliffs, hidden caves and even hang out at Cala Marmols beach which requires a 1.5-hour hike when not arriving by boat.
• CALA SANTANYI: Another beautiful cove/beach just a 12-minute drive from Cala Llombards.
• SANTANYI OLD TOWN: Picturesque old town 12-minute drive from Cala Llombards with shops, art and galleries plus cafes and restaurants. A market with fresh produce and local goods is held every Wednesday and Saturday.
• SOCIAL-MEDIA-HYPED BEACHES OF CALO DEL MORO AND CALA S’ALMONIA: While researching Mallorca I came across these beaches time and time again so we attempted to visit them. But it seems as though the whole world wants to visit these beaches as there was no parking within probably a 30-minute walk because it was so crowded. They are obviously beautiful coves, but they have no facilities, no parking and large crowds and you can find other beautiful coves in Mallorca (like the nearby Cala Llombards).
