Is Ibiza Family Friendly?
We recently visited Ibiza with our kids (ages 6, 3, and 9 months) and had a great time. Before our trip, we received so many confused looks from people when we told them we were going to Ibiza… with kids.
Ibiza is notoriously known for its massive nightlife scene, dance parties, beach clubs, etc, and so many people have a hard time looking past that.
We had visited Mallorca, Spain as a family the year prior (which is the island next to Ibiza) and we totally loved it (and I recommend visiting!). Because of that visit, we figured, why not visit Mallorca’s neighboring island, Ibiza?
It helps that I’ve never gone clubbing in Ibiza, so I don’t have an image in my mind of what a trip to Ibiza looks like to so many people.

I spent hours researching all of the most beautiful spots in Ibiza and quickly realized that we could have an amazing, super fun, relaxing family holiday in Ibiza.
Maybe you’ve never been to Ibiza before, or maybe you loved your time in Ibiza in your early twenties and now are hoping that you can take your family back and discover the quiet side of the island.
This guide is to help answer the question, ‘Is Ibiza family friendly?’ and help you decide if an Ibiza family holiday is a good choice for you.

Is Ibiza Good for Families?
Contrary to popular belief, yes! Ibiza is a great holiday spot for families!
Ibiza is a beautiful island with gorgeous, soft, sandy beaches and stunning, crystal clear water (that alone is heaven for kids). We spent so many days at different, beautiful beaches in Ibiza and we all had a blast.
Ibiza also has some very manageable, picturesque villages that are easy to explore with kids plus one of our favorite things we’ve done as a family, which is this boat/snorkeling trip made JUST for families.
If you want to relive some of the fun party experiences you’ve had in the past in Ibiza, there are some family-friendly beach clubs and even a family-focused dance party (I’ll get more into it later).
The most important part to making your trip to Ibiza family-friendly is to choose a great place to stay in a family-friendly area, not surrounded by the party scene (and I’ll also get more into that later).
(If you don’t want to wait, we stayed at this gorgeous yet affordable villa with a pool and LOVED it).
When to Visit Ibiza with Kids
The best months to visit Ibiza are May-June and September-October. These early summer and early fall months provide amazing, sunny weather with fewer crowds and potentially cheaper prices.
I know it’s very common to head to the Mediterranean during July and August because that may be your only option if you have to align with school holidays. However, I can’t imagine handling the stifling heat and huge crowds with little ones in tow.
We visited Ibiza in mid-June, and even then it was getting quite hot (88°F and humid) and the water was plenty warm for swimming (especially because it was so hot outside).

If you visit in early May, the water will be cooler (we’ve visited the neighboring island Mallorca in May and had to get used to the water).
If you want to visit Ibiza in the shoulder season but have warmer water, I suggest the end of September/early October, when the weather is still warm and the sea has been warming all summer. But as I said, the water was plenty warm in mid-June.
The beaches were still crowded in mid-June, and the crowds only intensify in July/August. However, no matter when you visit, if you plan to get to the beach around 9:30 am, you’ll be ok!
It’s plenty warm that early in the morning, plus it’s very important to arrive early to secure parking and a good spot on the sand.

One activity we did that was WAY less crowded in June than it would be later in the summer was our snorkeling boat trip created JUST for families. It was a highlight of our time in Ibiza and I definitely recommend it.
The boat trip is called Meet the Sea and includes snorkeling, SUP, coloring, a delicious paella lunch, and even an onboard treasure hunt!
Our boat trip had us and two other families, so about 15 people on board (it was amazing). The captain commented that come August, there are 50 people on each trip!
I think it would still be super fun even with more people, but we felt almost like we were getting a private, chartered experience. You can check prices and availability for the family-focused Meet the Sea Snorkeling Trip here.
Family-Friendly Areas of Ibiza
From what I’ve gathered ( remember, I’ve never been clubbing in Ibiza), the main partying areas are: San Antonio, Playa d’en Bossa, and Ibiza Town. I’d imagine in these areas you’re more likely to encounter a crowd that you’d rather not be around on a family holiday.
That doesn’t mean you need to avoid these areas altogether. For example, we visited Dalt Vila in Ibiza Town and loved wandering around the old city!
However, you may want to book accommodations in a quieter part of the island. I highly recommend finding a family-friendly villa in the country or an aparthotel (with pools, of course).
How To Get Around Ibiza as a Family
Renting a car is the most family-friendly way to explore Ibiza. Public transit does exist; however, it’s going to be quite difficult to explore much of the island.
If you want to stay in a more secluded villa or town, you will need a rental car for sure.

I like to use EconomyBookings whenever we need a rental car. I have saved HUNDREDS of dollars on a single rental in the past. They are almost always less expensive than even booking directly with a car rental company.
I like to poke around on the EconomyBookings website over a period of a few weeks because it seems like prices can fluctuate, so you may luck out and come across a great deal.
If you’ve never heard of EconomyBookings, check out their website here– it really is my go-to car rental site.
Beach Clubs in Ibiza Perfect for Kids
We haven’t visited either of these places, but if you’re looking for a great family-friendly beach club or family party experience, these are some great options:
- Bam-Bu-Ku: Super cute, day-time pool party for families! On multiple days a week, this colorful venue is transformed into a lively party for families with swimming, music, and activities!
- Beachhouse Ibiza: This beach club has a kids zone called Little Beachhouse with kids yoga, crafts, face-painting, and games from 1 pm – 5 pm every day.
Family-Friendly Villas in Ibiza
- $ Apartmentos Nort: 1, 2 & 3 bedroom options. Located in Portinatx with an amazing pool & GORGEOUS views. Perfect for families. (One of my top picks!)
- $$ Casa Vilda: 3-bedroom villa with private pool in the north of Ibiza.
- $$$ Casa Can Lluc: 3-bedroom, beautiful, hilltop villa with a beautiful pool and lush gardens. Perfect for big families or those who want space!
Family-Friendly Resorts in Ibiza
- $ Aparthotel Tropic Garden: Family-friendly aparthotel in Santa Eularia with a large pool and breakfast buffet.
- $$ TUI MAGIC LIFE Cala Pada – ALL INCLUSIVE: Amazing all-inclusive resort on the beach with multiple pools and fun programs for children.
- $$$ Hard Rock Hotel Ibiza: Popular resort with swim-up hotel rooms, 6 onsite restaurants, and an amazing kids club!
Ibiza Excursions for Families
I searched long and hard to find a good, family-friendly boat trip in Ibiza. There are SO many to choose from. From sailboats to Formentera Island, to sunset sails from Sant Antoni and kayaking trips in Xarraca Bay to snorkeling tours in open water.
To see all of the many options for yourself, search through boat trips on Viator here.
Traveling with young kids, I wasn’t sure we’d feel super welcome on a lot of the boat trips I was interested in. That’s not to say we wouldn’t have been welcome, I just wanted to find one catered to families.
Then, I came across the Meet the Sea Snorkeling/Boat Trip made JUST for families, and let me tell you, it was amazing. I highly recommend!

The crew helps both kids and parents feel safe and comfortable on the open water while you learn to snorkel and learn about (and touch!) sea urchins and sea cucumbers and more! Plus, there was an onboard treasure hunt, SUPs, coloring pages, and even an authentic paella lunch.
You can read more about it in my Complete Family Guide to Ibiza or search prices and availability here.

Family-Friendly Beaches in Ibiza
It’s a pet peeve of mine when people think that for a beach to be family-friendly, it must be a flat, long, huge stretch of sand without personality.
But these are my favorite unique and beautiful beaches in Ibiza for families that everyone in your group will love! All of these beaches also make great snorkeling spots.
Not only are they beautiful, but they are also very safe, and amenities are close by. (Be sure to book the Meet the Sea Snorkeling/Boat Trip for Families to get your kids excited about snorkeling!)

IBIZA BEACHES FOR FAMILIES:
- Cala d’Hort: Gorgeous views of Es Vedra, super picturesque dock for photos, and very shallow water (it felt like a pool!). Our 3-year-old loved it. Plus two restaurants with great views.

- Cala Saladeta: Small cove lined with traditional boat houses, shallow water, and super soft sand, plus large (to kids) sized rocks for climbing and jumping. A 10-minute, easy walk from Cala Salada.

- Cala Comte: Beautiful beach with unique coastlines and pretty views of the small islands in the water. Areas of super soft sand plus areas of large slabs of rock for playing or sunbathing, and two restaurants with great water views that are popular at sunset.

- Cala Gracioneta: The quietest beach of the bunch. A small, secluded cove with soft sand and shallow water. The back of the cove is home to a gorgeous restaurant (Cala Gracioneta Restaurant), which we didn’t try, but it looked lovely.

Quaint Villages to Explore as a Family in Ibiza
- Dalt Vila in Ibiza Town: A must-see in Ibiza! Ibiza’s fortified city with a history spanning 2,500 years. Think no cars, picturesque winding streets, white-washed buildings, cute shops/restaurants, and still lived-in neighborhoods.

- Santa Gertrudis: An even more walkable village in Ibiza. One small main pedestrian street with white-washed, yellow-trimmed buildings. Shops and eateries, plus a playground with shade in the mornings!
