A Local’s Ultimate Guide to WOW Park in Billund Denmark
When most people think of visiting Billund, Denmark, they think of all-things-LEGO (as they should!). But there is one amazing non-LEGO-related activity to do in Billund, and that’s making a visit to WOW Park.
We’ve lived in Billund for many years now and have had loads of visitors come through. Of our visitors with kids, WOW Park is almost always their favorite thing they’ve done during their entire time in Denmark.
And we’ve taken some of these visitors to ALL of the LEGO sites, plus roadtripped through the country and even stayed a night or two in Copenhagen, and WOW Park still ends up on top.
I hope I’m not building it up too much, but if you have kids who love to run, play, climb, and explore, then I highly recommend adding WOW Park to your itinerary.
This post is to help you know what to expect when visiting WOW Park, including what activities are offered and good things to know before you go.

What is Wow Park in Billund? Is it worth visiting?
WOW Park is hard to describe, and for a few years, we didn’t bother taking our kids because we assumed it was a ropes course in the forest that was maybe a bit too intense (which it’s not).
The best way I can describe Wow Park is that it’s a giant forest playground. WOW Park is the size of over 40 football fields (soccer fields to my fellow Americans) and has an impressive array of play areas, including rope swings, treetop net trampolines, underground tunnels, zip lines, and huge slides.
Even though we love the various LEGO attractions in Billund, we usually rank WOW Park as the second best (after LEGO House), and when our niece and nephews visited, they raved about WOW Park as the highlight of their whole trip to Denmark!

Bottom line: WOW Park is well worth a visit as a change of pace from LEGO sightseeing and is a blast for kids (and parents) of all ages.
Purchase your WOW Park Tickets In Advance
A day ticket to WOW Park costs about $35 (259 dkk) at the entrance. However, you can save about $5 (30 dkk) per ticket by purchasing in advance using this link.
How to get to WOw Park: An Amusement Park in Billund
You can technically walk to Wow Park from the nearby Lalandia Holiday Village and some hotels, but it’s about a 2-km walk that might be a bit much to add onto a long day exploring.
From July to August, Billund offers the Billund Shuttle Bus that runs generally every hour to and from top tourist attractions and some hotels. You can find updated timetables for the shuttle bus here.
In the end, the easiest way to get to WOW Park is via car, and there is plenty of free parking available at the entrance.
If you aren’t renting a car, I’d suggest booking a taxi. You can easily book a Billund taxi online on the Dantaxi website.
Best time to visit Wow Park in Denmark
WOW Park is open from April to October, with reduced opening days in both September and October. For the best weather, I would recommend avoiding April as WOW Park is 95% outdoors and April CAN be a dreary month.
I do recommend checking the WOW Park calendar when planning your trip because the park is sometimes sporadically closed, and it’d be a shame for it to be closed on the day you planned to visit.

Like many Billund tourist attractions, WOW Park has higher attendance in July and August, but we’ve never visited on a day that actually felt crowded (unlike LEGOLAND and The LEGO House).
While the park is best enjoyed in nice weather, we’ve visited on a rainy day and still had a great time!
There is a saying you hear in Denmark quite a lot that “there is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing.”
How long should you plan for your visit to Wow Park?
WOW Park is generally open from 10 am to 5 pm. You could easily spend the whole day exploring and still not see everything.
With that being said, if you only have a few hours available, you’ll still have a great time. We often visit for just a couple of hours at a time and are able to have plenty of fun.

Ideally, I would recommend allowing at least 3-4 hours to get the most out of your experience.
The best thing about WOW Park is that there are no queues like you might find at a theme park (except for the occasional short wait for the tallest slide). This means you can play a lot in a short amount of time.
How Big is WOW Park in Billund Danmark?
WOW Park is divided into 6 colored zones with almost 40+ different activities (it’s much larger than it first appears).
We’ve visited WOW Park consistently for the last few years and still feel like we discover new things each time we go.

It’s always recommended to stay close to your kids, but if you have older kids who like to explore on their own, be sure to agree on a meeting point.
What Should YOu Wear to WOW PArk?
WOW Park is all about playing outside in nature so you may get a bit dirty. All the paths and trails are dirt, gravel, or sawdust and there can also be mud after frequent Danish rainy weather.
Your kids will likely get messier than you, but still be prepared to climb and slide on all sorts of things!

Closed-toe sneakers are generally best for most of the net climbing areas, but sturdy sandals can also work!
I would also recommend leaving rings or nice jewellery at home since there are lots of nets and rope swings they can get stuck on (don’t google “degloving” injuries ๐ ).
Is there FOod at WOW Park?
WOW Park has a nice cafe that serves grill items like BBQ chicken, salads, and nachos, but it can be a little overpriced so we generally prefer to pack a lunch.
There are also grills available if you want to bring your own food for a cookout.

One of the best parts of WOW Park are the campfires that you can use to make s’mores, popcorn, or snobrรธd (authentic Danish-style campfire bread).

The various fixings can be purchased for a reasonable price at the gift shop near the entrance to the park.
Is Wow Park fun for young children?
Our kids have enjoyed visiting at all ages from 1-6 years. Most of the attractions will be catered towards children around 4/5 and up but there are plenty of awesome activities for little ones to enjoy.

Some of the larger slides have a recommended age of 6, but adults can accompany a smaller child on the two smaller slides on the giant slide tower.

All of our kids enjoy playing at the “Sneglehusene” (The Snail House) toddler play area that has small climbing structures, playhouses, and play kitchens, and is conveniently located near the picnic tables and cafe.
Is Wow Park fun for adults and teenagers?
Yes! My husband probably has as much fun at WOW Park as the kids when he takes them. We even had friends with no kids visit, and they had a blast!

We’ve also brought our nieces and nephews (the oldest was 11 at the time) and they liked it so much that they ended up upgrading their day pass to a season pass! They say it was the highlight of their trip (even beating out LEGOLAND and LEGO House).

Is wow park stroller friendly?
WOW Park paths are entirely dirt or gravel, which are generally stroller-friendly, but some areas can be a bit tricky to navigate.
We frequently bring a stroller and just park and leave it when we need to. However, a carrier would probably be the easier option.

If you’re travelling without a stroller, you can also rent a wooden wagon at the entrance, which is great for hauling all of your things (picnic, bags, etc) and even older kids.
Is Wow Park a ropes course?
When WOW Park was being built in our town, we thought it was a ropes course with harnesses based on the marketing images we saw (they’re a bit confusing).

While some of the attractions are high up in the trees, they are fully enclosed and safe. They are a type of netted rope bridge that doesn’t require harnesses or any gear (or really even supervision).

While the various ziplines and swings are shockingly big and super fun, they aren’t too high off the ground and none of them require harnesses and are suitable for all ages (our 3-year-old even loves the various interesting swings and ziplines).
Our Favorite Things to Do at Wow Park in Billund, Denmark
There are TONS of things to do at WOW Park, and it’s difficult to choose our favorite play areas (remember we’ve been there DOZENS of times), but here are a few of our favorites:
- “Snail House” toddler play area (green zone): Our kids play here every time we visit and we usually try to find a picnic bench nearby so they are entertained during lunch. Our 3-year-old especially loves this area.

- Net trampoline with giant balls: A blast for older kids and adults–there are several of them throughout the park but the largest one that has multiple balls is in the blue zone on the way towards the giant slide tower.

- “The Giant” Slide tower: There are three different slides: The “Lightning” 20m tall free fall slide (tallest in Scandinavia) is for ages 7 and up, but can be quite scary for people of all ages! “The Forest Racer” Three lane racing slides are for ages 6 and up or 4-6 year olds when accompanied by an adult. “The Spiral” Twisty slide is for ages 6 and up or 4-6 year olds when accompanied by an adult.

- Climbing Path/Obstacle course (yellow zone): Just to the left of the restrooms. There are many obstacle course throughout the park but our kids always want to come back to this one!

- Treehouses/Nets: These treehouse/net courses are generally found everywhere throughout the park, and we found our daughter was able to do most of them when she was 3 years old, but our 3-year-old son prefers to stay closer to the ground.

- Giant rope swings (yellow zone): These are a must-do! Adults are often just as eager for their turn on the swing as the kids.

- Friendly Goats (pink zone): A large enclosed area with 20+ goats that you can feed, pet, and even hold (if you find a friendly baby).
- Craft area (purple zone): Our kids love a good craft, so this is a welcome option if the weather is a bit wet or you just need a break from all the physical activity.
